Dude. Check out these buck naked smiles!

Last week, our buddy BillS commented on our “buck naked black bois” post, saying: “I love #32 for his smile. Buck Naked. Smiles! Hmmm. A not-too subtle post-request! LOL”
Of course, “smiles” posts are always favorites of ours so this is a post request we love. Nothin’ better than a nekid dude flashing a big smile… in addition to whatever else he’s flashing 🙂

I’m sure it comes as no surprise that David, Dub and I have been watching Amy Schneider’s amazing run as Jeopardy champion. While the show is taking a 2-week break for the “Professor’s Tournament,” Amy is resting up a bit from her 13-day winnings run with earnings of over $500,000. She’s the first openly transgender Jeopardy champ to qualify for the show’s Tournament of Champions.
At the end of the first show Amy was on, Dub (who always handles the remote) hit “pause,” looked at us and said “Amy used to be a boy, didn’t she?” I said “Yup. She’s transitioning from being a boy to being a girl. She’s “transgender.” Dub said “Howz that work?” I said “Well, I’m not an expert but when a baby is born it’s sex is determined by its’ outside body parts. Basically, boys have a penis and testicles and girls don’t. But physical characteristics don’t always tell the whole story. Sometimes how a person’s body looks on the outside doesn’t match how their gender feels in their brain. So they sometimes change how they look on the outside – because they can’t change their brain. It’s done mainly with hormones and the way they dress and wear their hair – but sometimes surgery is involved. We’ll look on line and find you some reading material on the subject. O.K.?”
He said, “Do you think she’s a happy person now?” I said “She sure seems to be.” Dub said “I hope so. I think everyone should do what they need to do to be happy.”
I honestly don’t know when it’s appropriate to talk about these things with kids… but Dub is a very mature 9 year-old and David and I have agreed we’ll always be honest with him regardless of the subject. Sometimes being a parent is a challenge.

Dude. You’re never fully dressed without a smile!

Hello. It’s Damien. Ty and I are Austin’s dads. We haven’t posted anything on UnrulyDude in a long time, but David and Ben asked us to bring you up-to-date on what’s happening with us, so we’ll have a go at it.
As hard as it is for us to believe, Austin is 10 years old now. He was four when we started fostering him so we can barely remember what life was like without him. Raising him has been a real challenge from time to time. It literally took years to get him past his memories of his early life – and we don’t know what we would have done if we hadn’t had Dub on-call to come over and help Austin chase the bogeyman away.
In the 6 years he’s been with us, he’s gone from being a scared little kid with a broken arm and cigarette burns on his back to a confident young man who loves his home, friends, school and life here at the Lake.
When he’s not in school or “hanging with his buds,” he’s usually playing video games on his Xbox. He says his current favorite is “Avengers” – a game he plays on-line with Dub, Chance and Travon – and sometimes with Bella.
We used to own an ocean front condo near Panama Beach, FL, but sold it because our home here at the lake is much like a non-stop vacation. And because this is where our friends are. They’re more than friends… they’re our family!
So that’s what’s happening with us. We hope this finds you happy, healthy and enjoying life. All our best. Damien and Ty
